The collection contains selected groups of company records for Harding & Cogswell, Corp. Due to the massive size of this collection only portions of it have been processed. The available materials are divided into four series. Series 1 includes construction projects sorted by the year and then alphabetically by contractor. Series 2 contains the visual materials and includes slides, negatives, and photographs of many of the company's projects. Series 3 contains catalogs and printed advertising showing limestone examples of textures, specifications for limestone use, and catalogs highlighting buildings that Harding & Cogswell worked on. Series 4 contains some early financial records from 1924-32. There are canceled checks, a cash book, company ledgers, and monthly statements.

Harding & Cogswell, Inc. (later renamed Harding & Cogswell, Corp.) began as a limestone fabrication company in Ellettsville, Indiana. It was founded in 1911 by Alfred G. Harding and Percy Cogswell. The company was incorporated in 1921. Although it was a very successful company it was temporarily shut down during World War II.
